Hi. My name is Andra and, just like you, I love parrots.
PARROTSPEDIA’s story started in 2013 when I received Fifi, a beautiful female budgie, as a gift. Fifi came into my life in a key moment, a few months after the loss of my 14-year-old furry companion, Karryna, a loving female Dachshund. It was my first interaction with a bird as a pet but the door to a new stage of my life opened that day. Fifi was a cure for my broken heart after Karryna’s passing, but also the beginning of a new and magical story. I’ve started reading, researching, and learning about how to take care of a little parrot and I’ve proved myself a successful mom for my parakeet. In 2018, Fifi got sick and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
In 2019, Alex (my better half) and I, both passionate about traveling to exotic places, decided to move for 3 months in Tenerife, the Island of the Eternal Spring, and the home to the most diverse parrot species and subspecies on the planet – Loro Parque. We fell in love with this place, and it soon became our home.
Now, I spend most of my time at Loro Parque, admiring its more than 3.500 birds, observing their behaviour, discovering important details right from the specialists, and then sharing the information with my team of writers, passionate about animals’ well-being as well.
